How was Jesus' claim of being the Son of God proven?

It's one thing to say that you are the Son of God and that you are God in the flesh, but it's another thing entirely to prove it. I'm here to tell you that in the word of God Jesus has proven his claim of being the very Son of the living God. And that's what we are going to see today through the word of God together.

1. Jesus' claim of being the Son of God was proven by His supernatural miraculous virgin birth.

Matthew 1:18-25

The Birth of Jesus Christ 18This is how the birth of Jesus Christ came about: His mother Mary was pledged to be married to Joseph, but before they came together, she was found to be with child through the Holy Spirit. 19Because Joseph her husband was a righteous man and did not want to expose her to public disgrace, he had in mind to divorce her quietly. 20But after he had considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, "Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. 21She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus,[c] because he will save his people from their sins." 22All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet: 23"The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel"[d]which means, "God with us." 24When Joseph woke up, he did what the angel of the Lord had commanded him and took Mary home as his wife. 25But he had no union with her until she gave birth to a son. And he gave him the name Jesus.

2. Jesus' claim of being the Son of God was proven by His sinless and perfect life.

(1 John 3:5)

5 And you know that Jesus came to take away our sins, and there is no sin in him.

(1 Peter 1:19)

19 It was the precious blood of Christ, the sinless, spotless Lamb of God.

(1 Peter 2:22)

22 He (Jesus) never sinned, nor ever deceived anyone.

(John 8:46)

46 Which of you can truthfully accuse me of sin? And since I am telling you the truth, why don't you believe me?

3. Jesus' claim of being the Son of God was proven by His baptism.

Matthew 3:13-17

The Baptism of Jesus

13 Then Jesus went from Galilee to the Jordan River to be baptized by John. 14 But John tried to talk him out of it. "I am the one who needs to be baptized by you," he said, "so why are you coming to me?" 15 But Jesus said, "It should be done, for we must carry out all that God requires.[a]" So John agreed to baptize him. 16 After his baptism, as Jesus came up out of the water, the heavens were opened[b] and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and settling on him. 17 And a voice from heaven said, "This is my dearly loved Son, who brings me great joy."

4. Jesus' claim of being the Son of God was proven by the very miracles He performed and demonstrated before the very eyes of men. The miracles that Jesus performed were only miracles that God himself could do. No one other than God himself could do the very miracles that Jesus did.

6. Jesus' claim of being the Son of God was proven By His death (that is by His crucifixion at the cross).

(Matthew 27: 51-54)

51At that moment the curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. The earth shook and the rocks split. 52The tombs broke open and the bodies of many holy people who had died were raised to life. 53They came out of the tombs, and after Jesus' resurrection they went into the holy city and appeared to many people. 54When the centurion and those with him who were guarding Jesus saw the earthquake and all that had happened, they were terrified, and exclaimed, "Surely he was the Son[a] of God!"

(I John 5:6-8)

6 And Jesus Christ was revealed as God's Son by his baptism in water and by shedding his blood on the cross[b] not by water only, but by water and blood. And the Spirit, who is truth, confirms it with his testimony. 7 So we have these three witnesses[c]"8 the Spirit, the water, and the blood" and all three agree.

7. Jesus' claim of being the Son of God was proven by His glorious physical (bodily) resurrection from the dead.

For proof of Jesus' physical (bodily) resurrection from the dead. Read (Matthew 28:1-20) (Mark 16:1-20) (Luke 24:1-48) (John 20:1-31) (1 Corinthians 15)

(John 2:19-20)

19Jesus answered them, "Destroy this temple, and I will raise it again in three days." 20The Jews replied, "It has taken forty-six years to build this temple, and you are going to raise it in three days?" 21But the temple he had spoken of was his body. 22After he was raised from the dead, his disciples recalled what he had said. Then they believed the Scripture and the words that Jesus had spoken.
